Sherrill Wm. Colvin has practiced law in Fort Wayne since 1965. He is an active trial lawyer with a broad background of trial experience in many courts around the Midwest. He has lectured on trial techniques at various bar association seminars, and he has served as a faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, in Indianapolis, South Bend and at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Mr. Colvin’s practice is concentrated in litigation, including claims for personal injuries, wrongful death, estate disputes, product liability, contract disputes, and professional liability.
Mr. Colvin’s trial skills have earned him the recognition as a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, a legal organization that invites less than one percent of the lawyers in North America into membership. Since 1989, his peers have named Mr. Colvin one of the Best Lawyers in America. He has served as president and a member of the board of directors of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Colvin was appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, which regulates and enforces the Rules of Professional Conduct, the mechanics of legal ethics. He served as chairman of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission. He also was a member of the Board of Governors for the Indiana State Bar Association and chaired its Trial Lawyers Section. In 2003-2004, he served as President of the Indiana State Bar Association. Mr. Colvin also serves as an attorney member of the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission and Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications.
He is a board member of the Allen County Courthouse Preservation Trust, the Allen County Library Foundation, the Fort Wayne Parks Foundation, and Heartland Chamber Chorale. He has served as a board member for Parkview Memorial Hospital, Inc., the Fort Wayne Educational Foundation, and Fort Wayne Country Club.
